JOB TITLE: Farm Hand

JOB TYPE: Part-time (30 hours per week) conditional on obtaining funding through the 2018 Canada Summer Job Program.

DURATION: May 1, 2018 to August 31, 2018

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Molly’s Acres is a small farm located 20 minutes outside of Peterborough. We are looking for individuals with a “hands on/can do” attitude, who are outgoing team players that enjoy working outdoors and with the public.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

• Hands on agricultural work both in field and within a greenhouse environment.

• Ability to apply existing knowledge of agricultural practices.

• Setting up for and attending markets or other functions (as required).

• Field work such as bed preparation, planting, harvesting, plant care, day-to-day care of the greenhouse including plant care, seeding, harvesting and cleaning.

• Application of organically approved pest and fungal care products and proper use of such (training will be provided).

• Use of small garden tools.

• Meeting with customers to deliver harvest.

• Opening and closing office/farm hours.

REQUIREMENTS:

• A valid G-class drivers license is required for personal transportation.

• Existing knowledge of agricultural, or hydroponic systems is an asset, but not necessary.

• The employee is expected to be able to withstand working outside in changing weather conditions (rain, heat, etc) and have the ability to lift 50lbs.

• Preference will be given to candidates who are currently enrolled in a related Post Secondary program.
